Riding and Horsemanship Lessons
PRIVATE LESSONS ONLY!
All students start training on the lounge line, working to develop balance, coordination, and suppleness of the muscles and joints. This is done through various exercises and techniques at the walk, trot, and canter. Once the rider had found his or her "perfect seat" the leg, seat, and hand aids are introduced to communicate to the horse.
Once a language is created between horse and rider, training can include Training Level through 2nd or 3rd Level dressage, jumping courses and navigating cross country courses. Riders will also trail ride are learn how to tackle obstacles such as water and bridges. Riders with their own horses are encouraged to take their horses to trail rides and/or competitions.
JLT Horsemanship travels to Cross Country Events and Endurance rides as well as local Hunter/Jumper and Dressage competitions. We also like to go trail riding at McKinney Falls and Pedernales.
Horsemanship Lessons teach proper grooming, parts of the horse & confirmation, equine first aid, basic horse nutrition, how to lead and lounge the horse, basic work In Hand, and most importantly, how to read horse body language so the horseman (or woman!) can communicate, play, have fun, and stay safe with the horse.
